Convert and Extract Data

Convert Data
Data Manager can be used to convert from one CSPro data source format to another CSPro format. For example, you can convert from a CSPro DB data source to a text data source. To convert data:
  1. Open the data source.
  2. Click the File menu and select Save Data.
  3. Enter a name for the converted data source. If using the extension .csdb, the data source will be saved in CSPro DB format. If using the extension .csdbe, you will be prompted to enter a password, after which the data source will be saved in Encrypted CSPro DB format. If any other file extension is used, the data source will be saved to a format based on the data source associated with the extension.
You can also use the case listing's context menu, selecting Save Case or Save Selected Cases. When saving all cases from a data source, the order of cases matches the order in the source data source, saved in sequential order. However, cases saved using the case listing context menu are saved in the order that they appear in the case listing.
Extract Data
Clicking on the File menu and selecting the Extract option provides several options:
OptionDescription
DictionaryExtracts the dictionary used by the data source. This is particularly useful if you want to access the embedded dictionary used by a data source such as CSPro DB.
NotesExtracts the notes associated with cases. Notes can be extracted as CSPro data (any format), to a CSV (comma-separated values) file, or to an Excel file. When extracting to CSPro data, a dictionary that can read the notes data will also be generated.
Extract Binary DataExtracts the binary data associated with cases to standalone files. You can define a naming scheme for the extracted files and provide a directory where these files should be saved.
You can also use the case listing's context menu, selecting Extract Notes from Case, Extract Notes from Selected Cases, Extract Binary Data from Case, or Extract Binary Data from Selected Cases. Notes or binary data will only be processed from the selected cases.
