App freezes on Android 6.0, 7 and 8.0 — ERRMSG/PROMPT not displaying

Hello,
I'm experiencing an issue on some phones running Android 6.0: the application freezes without displaying any error message (ERRMSG) or command prompt (PROMPT).
Setup:

CSPro 8.0 for programming
CSEntry 8.0.1 for the Android application
Deployment via FTP

Issue details:

Out of all my Android 6 devices, only 4 were working properly.
On those 4 devices, everything worked fine until yesterday, when the problem suddenly appeared on one of them.
On top of that, none of my Android 7 or Android 8 devices worked at all.

Has anyone encountered this kind of behavior before? I'd appreciate any leads on identifying the cause.

Create a test app with just the functionality that is causing the issue and see if you are able to reproduce the problem. If so, please send us the test app to cspro@lists.census.gov.
